When you are moving you know that there is a lot you will have to do in the upcoming weeks. Yes, weeks, because a relocation could take a while in terms of a good organization. Taking care of the things to pack and move is primarily of your concern. And then, when you are relocating, there are also things moving companies won’t move. What are they and what is it that you are not allowed to pack in your luggage? Amongst these are also the items that you are allowed to move but you better not take.
What Moving Companies Will Not Move?
The things moving companies won’t move are compiled in several categories. Below you will find the most common items amongst them:
- Hazardous materials – this means things that are corrosive, explosive, flammable and thus dangerous. These include: aerosols (deodorants, body spray, etc.), weapons and ammunition, car batteries, charcoal, cleaning solutions, bleach, gas (if you are moving your mower empty the tank), lamp oil, matches, paint and paint thinner, fireworks, nail polish remover and pool chemicals. - Perishable things – this will include things that may go bad or perish while in transportation like food, including frozen things, open packages of food, plants, animals, etc. What moving companies won’t move are your pets. You need to think about another way to transport them – like getting them on the car with you if you decide to drive yourself to your next home. - There are also things that you are not advised to give to movers. These are credit/ debit cards, money, documents, expensive items like jewels, items of genuine fur, things that have sentimental value to you like photos. But this is not all. These things moving companies won’t move are just an example. The list above shows you the main most common things. If you can think of any more items you have that fall into the above categories don’t relocate them with you. You can additionally consult your mover as well. A trustworthy mover will explain to you what you need to know about your move as long as you keep asking questions. This is why you should be well informed of what movers won’t move for you. When the moving company arrives at your home for a visual inspection show them what you have for moving. They will also advise you on what things will need to be transported dismantled. Don’t Pack the Whole House
It’s costly, time consuming and most importantly – illogical. Through the items movers will not move there are things that you can take with you but there is no sense to. These include broken items, damaged things, things that are worn out, other items you won’t use (old clothes of your grown up children), things on your garage you have kept for years hoping you may need them, long forgotten items no one already needs. If you are still keeping your black and white TV or that old VCR you used many years ago it is now time to say goodbye to them. Just remember when was the last time you even remembered what you are keeping on those shelves in your garage. You don’t have to pay for all of that to be transported. What you don’t need you could sell at a moving sale or put on ebay. The boxes that you have emptied will become handy for packing some of your things for transportation.
Things Movers Will not Take
Be prepared with the list of what moving companies won’t move. Have it with you while packing and try to stick with it. All these are things movers will not take for a very good reason – safety.
