Moving in Rain & Moving in Snow Tips
When moving during rain and snow prepare the floor in your old and then in your new home in the first place. Use old rags, carpet pieces and cardboard. You can read in details how to protect your floors and carpets during a relocation on this link. Next prepare your way to the moving truck or van. When moving in the snow or in rain make a track to the truck. Cover the connection to your house from the vehicle with something – it could be your own old carpet you will be replacing or even cardboard – just be careful where you place it. If you put cardboard directly on the ground it may get soaking wet, drop to pieces and may make you trip. It is good on concrete floor where your feet won’t sink. Don’t use plastic or plastic material as it will become slippery and it will be dangerous to walk on.
Prepare Your Belongings

For your move in rain or snow protect your furniture with plastic and keep boxes on a dry place.
When moving in the rain or snow begin by preparing the largest pieces of furniture in your home. Wrap up the wooden furniture in plastic in order to protect it. You want your things to enter the truck dry and also clean. Even if you have furniture that is water resistant it is advisable to not take any risks when moving during rain or snow and protect it too. Imagine a truck full of muddy and wet items – it’s going to take forever to clean them up before taking them in your new home again.
After that when moving in the snow or in rain think about your packed boxes. First of all always keep them on a dry place. Cardboard can be destroyed by too much water, it may get wet and fall apart after which everything in the box will fall on the ground. In order to protect your things in the boxes keep them as little as possible in the rain or in the snow and always carry them from the bottom for extra safety. If you have doubts about the boxes’ strength you can wrap them around with a lot of extra tape everywhere but even then you should keep the boxes away from moist and water as much as possible. If you have some boxes where you keep things that are more expensive or emotionally valuable to you you can wrap them in plastic to make sure they stay dry.
In the truck you should use more moving blankets for protection of your belongings. Use straps to secure everything to the walls of the truck. Water and snow may make the floor of the truck or the plastic around your belongings to become slippery and shift in the vehicle. Use cardboard for cushioning and for drying up the moist between the boxes and the other things in the truck. In this way when moving house in snow or rain you will be able to preserve your luggage clean and dry. If on the other hand you have decided to call movers for your relocation you wouldn’t have to worry about your boxes or furniture as moving experts know what to do.

If you are worried about protecting your belongings in rain or when it is snowing hire movers - the ideal exit of every worry.
