I was quoted $177 for 3 hours, two movers, 24' truck to move a 500 sq. ft. apartment about 10 miles. Come the day of my move, I had never heard from anyone, so I called. Heather had written down my phone number incorrectly, despite my having included my phone number in several e-mails, and accused me of lying to her. When nobody showed up an hour after my window, I had to call back, was accused of having given the wrong phone number again, told that she had left me several voice mails, then changed her story and said the voice mail box she had called was full. Was told that the drivers showed up and were told that nobody lived there, that nobody answered the door when they knocked; I had been in the apartment cleaning half an hour prior to my window, and waiting outside for 45 minutes after my window had begun, and nobody had come or knocked. Heather said she'd call the drivers and call me right back, but I never heard from her again. I had to call back three times and leave messages, finally got a driver to call me, who asked "Whatchoo got? Like, what kinda stuff you got?" Asking what kind of items I had to move - again, despite several e-mails and phone conversations describing everything I needed moved. The driver told me that they had gone on to their next job when I "wasn't home," and that they could *maybe* fit me in afterwards. Several phone calls giving me the brushoff and several hours later (were supposed to be there at 2pm, finally showed up at 9:30pm) they showed up, promptly ran the truck into a pole while parking, which lodged in the wheel well of the truck, knocking the pole over (which they never did anything about or even acknowledged beyond asking me for tools to help pry it out, and mocking me for not having said tools). The movers were two punk kids who smoked, swore, and complained through the whole thing. I eventually found out that they had come to my old place an hour before they were supposed to, which was why nobody was there at the time. So my window was supposed to be from 2-5pm, so they showed up at 1pm and expected me to be there, but when I wasn't, they waited 15 minutes and then called their next client, whose window was not supposed to be until at least 5pm, and the client just happened to be ready 4 hours early? Seems unlikely to me. They finally loaded the truck, followed us to the new place, and unloaded the truck, by which time it was 12:30a.m.
After this whole nightmare, they ask me to fill out a survey right in front of them, and have the audacity to say "We encourage tipping." Waste my entire day, treat me like garbage, blow me off, accuse me of lying, damage property, (the pole they destroyed came out of my security deposit), and expect me to tip? Unbelievable. Then they charged me $360, vs. the $177 I'd been quoted, and complained about that. I paid it just to get them out of my life and wrote it up as a life lesson never to hire movers you haven't research and who claim to be that inexpensive. RUN from this pathetic JOKE of a company. You'd honestly be better off hiring a couple of stoners off the street. I guess I should consider myself lucky that they didn't steal anything or physically assault me.
