Damage - Moving Review

One of the pitfalls of contracting a moving company is that many times the actual move is subcontracted out. In my case Neighbors turned it over to All Points Moving but the truck that delivered my stuff said Pack it, Move it. 2 of 9 items arrived damaged. This was 50 year old solid oak furniture and not so easy to break and/or crush. The damage was obviously done by a fork truck compacting the load in the moving van. The insurance was the standard 60 cents per pound plus my home owner's insurance. The 9 pieces weighed less than 1000 lbs so their liability was only going to be up to $600.
In the end I paid to have the furniture
repaired out of my own pocket. I would not choose Neighbors, All Points of Pack it, or Move it at any time in the future
because all the furniture throws in the world are not going to protect your stuff from an idiot on a fork truck.
