The first call I made was to arrange the move and the person I spoke to seemed very nice and helpful. When the movers arrived, they complained about the fact that I lived on the third floor. They said that they had brought three men (as I had requested), but if I tipped them $60.00, they would just charge me for two. I told him that I had requested three, then he replied that it was quicker and it would be cheaper to use just two. They proceeded to move my furniture. I had 9 pieces of furniture...very easy, or so I thought. The first item out the door was my leather recliner. They actually shoved it through the door. They used absolutely no padding on my chairs, just the nightstands. They followed me to my new place and when they arrived, they complained about the apartment being on the 4th floor. Then he tried to tell that the representative failed to tell me that there was an additional charge for 75 feet or higher. I told the guy that there are only 10 feet per floor, and he rebutted that it was accumulated height of the first place and this one. I told him that it still did not add up to 75 feet, it was 70 feet. At that point he said tha he "would take that charge off as a courtesy". He went on to say that it would probably be 4 hours to finish and if I "gave them each $100.00 he would clock out now at two hours". I don't know why he thought that was cheaper. I had already planned to tip them $100.00 each because I knew the move was not easy and it was very hot. I did buy each of them gatorades to drink during the move. After everything was moved in I started seeing the damages. The bed frame, head board and foot board were all damaged as a result of not being padded at all and being banged into walls. It would have taken 5 minutes to wrap blankets on the frame. Thankfully, I had purchased plastic mattress and boxspring covers or they would have been completely soiled from not being wrapped. The nightstand and chest they did wrap arrived unharmed (what a suprise!) the leather recliner and the leather accent chairs had gouges and even a hole in the chair that they tried to cover with a marker...not very well. They stripped (or broke off) two legs on my couch and I had to reglue them to get them to go back in. I called customer when I discovered this and I never got an answer, it went to voicemail, I left 4 messages and still have yet to hear from them. I called the original rep and he connected me to the insurance calim department. To add insult to injury, they only pay for damages by weight. So, if your brand new furniture (which mine was) is damaged and weighs 40 pounds, they only pay you $0.60 per pound. (Yes, that is 60 cents!!!) so my $400.00 chair with $300.00 in damage will be reimbursed $24.00. They should be ashamed to be in business. They are dishonest, lazy, just downright awful. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE FOLKS OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!
