Original shipment 4 days late. Driver left with items still on truck and did not keep appointment to return them. I made arrangements for my furniture to be picked up on 11/21/11 at 9:00 b/c my apartments "set appointments" for the freight elevator. Driver was 3 hours late and then spent 1 hour arguing with security about where to park his truck. From the moment I contacted Bekins I made it explicitly clear that my items had to be delivered 11/28 or 29 because of my new job - even if it meant picking up my items earlier than the 21st. I was assured that this gave them plenty of time.
Nothing on the 28th. Nothing on the 29th. Finally contacted them myself late on the 29th and was told he would be there on the 1st. Late on the 30th I was contacted by customer service (followup to emails) and the entire conversation was based on the arrival of my furniture on the 1st. Right before we hung-up I asked for verification that my furniture would in fact be delivered then. She got the driver on line and he was STILL in Miami.
When he finally arrived on the 2nd, he was rude, stunk and did nothing but complain about how long he had been up. He was flying in with boxes and furniture so fast that I couldn't keep up with the check list and about 60 to 75% of the items, the stickers had fallen off and he said that was "no big deal." He and my son got into an argument and he said he was going to close the doors and take my stuff with him. I told him that if he did I would call the police and my attorney. He continued to unload about another hour (all night was one box at a time - no dolly or anything). He left at 12:30 that night.
I discovered the next morning that an antique table had been damaged, the 2 back pieces to my armoire were missing and most of the hardware from the shelves/cabinets that they broke down was missing (they did not bag any of the hardware nor tape it to the pieces).
After reporting this, Bekins called me to tell me that he had found some of my items and would return them to me this past weekend. Of course, he was a no show.
This morning Bekin's tracking department told me they were going to FedEx the items to me. Now they are telling me no, he will come back through Houston to deliver them. AGAIN, nothing but the runaround.
The also tell me that my shipment was 500 lbs. too light for a refund. How do I know what was weighed - only the items he delivered the first time?? Or were the "missing" items included? So isn't it quite coincidental that my shipment was just "a little too light" to qualify for a refund.
