Learn from my mistake - Moving Review

1.Before I reserved with the company I checked the consumer rating and Apollo Van Lines NYDOT#34365 / US DOT#841867 was rated a "C" consumer feedback noted the price usually doubles above the estimate and they were accused of holding inventory "hostage" because the customer disputed the price. I called the company at (718)969-6235 and spoke with my "relocation specialist" Marie (Freeman) and she acknowledged the rating but explained they were under new management and the price would double in the past because they did not send estimators to the site they hadn't had the noted issues since new management.
2.Adam Dahn (estimator) came to my house for an on site evaluation and estimate. Adam did a full walk-through quoted total move (2.75 cu) tax and tolls $1512 with an extra $200 for crating and supplies but the actual total cost after the truck was loaded $3412.
3.I asked Marie if it was OK to load plastic bags for blankets and miscellaneous soft items she said absolutely, when the truck driver arrived immediately told me I could not use the bags because they cannot guarantee the safekeeping if they were damaged it would not be the companies liability then he tried to sell boxes that cost between $10 and $35.
4.I received written notice that may furniture would arrive on 10/28/2009 when they did not arrive by 10/29/09 I called and spoke with Tony he told me my furniture would arrive on 10/30/09 between 2 and 6 pm. I had to call again and spoke with Tony again, I then found out he was the acting manager he explained the truck experienced mechanical issue that they have no control over but he guaranteed a delivery of 11/01/2009 I did not get my thing until 11/02/09.
5.I also have in writing that 5 linen boxes and 3 wardrobe boxes would be free but was denied details for total cubic feet for the boxes to confirm they were actually free.

I would not recommend this company to many undelivered promises. Nichole Jackson
