Review on American Van Lines East

Rating: 1 Star Moving Rating, Posted by Sandra Watson on Sep 23, 2012

First the company pass themselves off as North American Van Lines; quoted 1400 one was (2.81 cf; weight did not matter) I was told to make a list; which I did and sent it to them that is where the quote came from. No extra for wrapping and padding ect. 1/2 way through the move the driver told me he needed 2400.00 down. I called Bobby Nolan and he refused to talk to me. His secretary hung up on me; I sent several emails that were unreturned. Secretary told me if I removed my goods they would charge me anyway or not give me my stuff back. **I knew I HAD BEEN SHAMED! I had already signed their paperwork!! Cash only; upfront, they had 2400 of my $$.  I was told they were not a broker and they handled the move all the way through, another lie.  A truck company called Greenwood arrived 9 days later (I was told 3-4 days that they had trucks going to NC 3-4 times a week.  The nightmare continues (they still won't talk to me).  When the driver arrived he stated he could not come down my road and they started unpacking my item beside the road two blocks from my house. I had to call the police.  The police told them that they could come down the road, but they refused; said it would damage their truck. The best they could do was (my room mate from FL had to follow me up to NC because they did not take my bed (king size, patio furniture or my 42" TV; I had to hire him for another 2000 to move that stuff they were suppose to take).  We had to physically drive to their truck, unload the items ourself onto our trailer and drive back home and unload them.  This took 6 trips with a large trailer. They arrived in the dark so it was impossible to see the condition of ANY of my items; all I could see was smashed boxes, Plastic bins that looked like a truck ran over them; I have not gone through my stuff yet that is in boxes.  I do know they broke the pins off my washer know; unusable, they broke and bent the nob on my dryer; unusuable.  The furniture that I did see was scratched, marred, the wicker was shredded and the list goes on.  When all was said and done the movers charged me just shy of 6000.00 dollars plus the roommate charged me 2000, plus gas 400. So a total of around 8400.00 and trashed furniture and trashed boxes and bins I am too upset to even look inside of. The police offices told me to take them to civil court and sue them for everything.  I am sure I am missing some information, but I am just sick with grief over my personal belongs and all the $$ I spent.  Even the police said they were scammers. ***Stay away from these movers; they are really bad news. Fraud for passing themselves off for a company they are not. Liars on the price of the move and if you value your belongs, no matter how they are packed; they will come back crushed and broken.****  I am taking a civil action out on them immediatly for all the damages and rip off shame that they are.  Anyone wanting to ask any questions please feel free to contact me at kaikeylos@yahoo.com
