Review on Neighbors Moving and Storage

Rating: 1 Star Moving Rating, Posted by Shana on Aug 03, 2012

I recently booked a moving job with Neighbors Moving and Storage for July 7, 2012.  Prior to making my decision, I shopped around to make sure I was making the best option.  I am a Property Manger for apartment communities and often refer my residents to moving companies upon their notice to vacate.  I can say, at this moment, I will NOT recommend this company to any for their moving needs.  The reviews I read about your company were all correct and I am highly disappointed in the professionalism that company possess.  I spoke to Nate Egerton on several occasions and he assured me that the price quoted was for one (1) hour for loading and one (1) hour to unload, plus a transportation charge.  I asked Nate several times if this was the set price for my move.  He assured me that unless it took the movers more time to load and/or unload the truck that would be the only amount charged over the quoted amount.  He also stated upon the truck arriving I would have wardrobe boxes available for me to use.  Once the truck arrived, there was NO wardrobe boxes on the truck and as a result of that I had to place my clothes in nasty, dirty furniture pads.  My car was full already from packing it, so they couldn't fit in there and since I was moving out of the city, I had no choice.  He also stated that there would be mattress covers as well.  Had I known this was a lie as well I would have bought a cover for my mattress that cost me over $1000.  In addition, I would have packed my clothes properly as to avoid putting them in dirty furniture pads.  The guys that showed up were late, and asked to use my electric for their cell phone that was dead because they forgot their car charger at home.  One guy also was "joking" around stating that I could give him my 37" tv as a tip for him, which was very unprofessional.  On the paperwork that I signed it also stated that they would not go off course and go straight to the final destination.  They turned off course 2 times and I had to pull over and wait for them and worry if they were taking my items off the truck.  They showed up 10 minutes later, after waiting twice for them.  Once I got to my new home and they were done unloading, I noticed that my new mattress that wasn't covered had a huge dirt mark on the corner from sitting on the truck (see attached photo).  Then they had me sign stating that I was being charged in additional hour for transportation.  They mentioned that the travel time from point A to point B was also considered a "labor charge".  I mentioned that it was not stated by Nate this way, and that I should not have to pay this amount.  They stated that this happens to them all the time and that the sales representatives are always misquoting the prospects.  I immediately called your customer service line and they provided me with Mike's number and said I needed to speak with him in regards to the charge.  I then immediately contacted Mike as well and left a message for him, and then followed up a few more days afterwards since I had yet to receive a call back from him.  Once I spoke to Mike he stated that he would send me claim documentation for my mattress and pull recorded conversations between Nate and I.  After two weeks and not hearing back from him, I called again.  It took two additional phone calls to finally get a hold of him.  He stated that he would send the claim paperwork to me again and that it must have went to my spam folder, which was false; I just didn't receive it.  Further he mentioned that I would not be reimbursed for the negligence of your sales representative and I needed to speak customer service.  I am being tossed around from one person to the next regarding my issue with no resolution.
