It uses lies and unprofessional business practices that boarder on fraud and extortion. It has employees that have no concept of what Customer Service is and how tit should be practiced. It does not honor its contractual obligations and uses its policy of cash only or Postal money orders to facilitate its questionable practices. It quotes one price for a move and when its employees arrive for pick-up, quotes additional fees before loading to be paid in cash or Postal money order. Also upon delivery, additions funds are demanded in cash before the load is released In our move from Punta Gorda, FL to Las Vagas,NV, a quote of $2426.00 was increased by $916.00 upon pick-up. The reasons given were that additional furniture, not stated in the quote, had to be moved (in truth actual items were deleted from the original quote) and that wall hangings needed to be boxed (were actually moved unboxed).Upon delivery, the driver employed by Public Movers, used the same heavy-handed tactics before he would release the load. In our case, Public Movers demanded additional funds claiming a “bounce deposit check” (even though the deposit was made through a Debit Card withdrawal finally refunded over thirty days later claiming a accounting error). We had to provide an additional $478 CASH at time of delivery to cover the “bounced check” and to cover “driver inconvenience”. After the funds were secured at a local ATM and rushed to the driver, the sociopathic driver dropped the entire load over 150 yards from the housing unit in the middle of a public driveway. All the furniture and boxes had to be hand carried to the unit WITHOUT assistance from Public Movers employees. They also refused to assemble the furniture as per the conditions stated in the contract. It also should be noted that we were told by Public Movers that the driver would contact us 24 hours in advance of delivery so arrangements could be made to accept delivery. Contact was made at 8:00pm on a Thursday evening. The truck arrive at 12 noon on Friday. Arrangements for receiving the furniture were incomplete. The driver and home office personnel demanded immediate unloading of the load with a $85.00/hour fee for every hour the driver was inconvenienced. Extraordinary measures had to be taken to get the funds to the drive to stop this “Inconvenience Clock”. Also, the driver would not pull the truck any closer to the unit claiming inability to maneuver the 18 wheeler. This, after being told by the home office personnel on Thursday night that after checking Google Maps, they did not see a problem with the delivery. (Since this debacle, multiple moving trucks have been observed unloading to units in the complex.) Except for an employee by the name of Tysh, every other employee at Public Movers that we dealt with were rude, argumentative, uncooperative, and furthered the company’s policy of lies and deception. Public Movers is a company that does not deserve to operate.
