Jim Alexander quoted us $2437.44 to move our furniture. His quote said this was inclusive and no hidden charges would be attached. Final charges were $5066.80. All was well till the movers arrived in VA. Movers could barely speak English (they were Russian). Communication was very difficult. When they arrived they knew that they were there to pick up 5000 pounds. After placing 80 percent of our stuff on the truck they said that they charged extra for any packing materials that they provided. WHAT? Then they said are you moving this piano? We said yes. They said that was extra too. Then after all was loaded on the truck the driver estimated 12000 pounds. WHAT? Two bedrooms and some boxes was 12000 pounds? We were not allowed to talk to Jim Alexander at that point and was told to talk to Jonathon. He said we either we pay the extra or they would put everything back in the house. Um well it was night time and we had a plane to catch so we were forced to agree. Then they said here sign this contract or we put stuff back in house.

They make you sign contract after they have you over a barrel. Sure you can refuse to sign but they will leave all your stuff and you have to start all over to find movers.

They make all these promises in emails and have no intention on delivering on those promises. They figure once they got your stuff on the truck they got you.

The delivery driver called us 5 days before agreed delivery time and said they were here to deliver furniture. WHAT? We were not ready. We agreed on Tuesday. They were here the Friday before. Saturday driver calls at 6am and demands that we open the door so he can deliver furniture or else. We were afraid that our furniture would be destroyed so we opened the door to let them in.

At Destination we thought they would provide us with a weigh slip of the Semi that delivered our furniture. We were cussed out by the drivers when we requested a California Certified weigh slip or to see the drivers books. No proof was given us as to the weight of the furniture at destination but we were required to pay an additional payment IN CASH for over $2500 more than we agreed.

What would have happened if we didn't have the money? They should not have been allowed to charge us more than agreed.

Then when they left their packing material was left on my doorstep. Oh ya and they asked us for a tip! Ya right.

This woman blames all of her problems on us, the moving company. This customer was so lazy she refused to complete the inventory list that every customer receives on my original e-mail that is sent to all prospective customers. She said she was "TOO BUSY" TO fill it out. When we showed up we estimated that she had about 12,000 pounds. We gave her an estimate on the amount of goods she had at the house and then she signed the order for service. I was available in the office at the time but she refused to speak to me. I even called her 3 times and she hung up on me every time. She signed the order for service which allows us to start the move. If there was a problem she should not have signed it. But the fact remains that she signed all the required paperwork. This woman is of very low intelligence. When I quoted her the original price, I clearly explained that the price of the move, .48 cents per pound is "FIXED" AND WOULD NOT CHANGE. SHE INTERPRETED THIS TO MEAN THAT THE ESTIMATE I GAVE HER WOULD NOT CHANGE. SHE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND THAT WHAT IS FIXED IS THE .48 CENTS PER POUND. SHE HAD MORE WEIGHT THAN WE ORIGINALLY THOUGHT, SINCE SHE NEVER FILLED OUT THE INVENTORY LIST AS REQUESTED BY US. ALSO, IT IS CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD THAT ANY GOODS THAT ARE NOT PACKED BY THE CUSTOMER THERE WILL BE A CHARGE FOR PACKING SUPPLIES. (FURNITURE IS FREE WITH BLANKET WRAPPING, CUSTOMERS ARE REQUIRED TO PACK THEIR OWN BOXES FOR THIS RATE). THIS CUSTOMER THINKS THAT MOVING COMPANIES GIVE AWAY BOXES FOR FREE AND THAT MOVING COMPANIES GIVE AWAY PACKING SUPPLIES FOR FREE. THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH ANY MOVING COMPANY UNLESS THEY REQUEST THE FULL SERVICE MOVE WHICH IN THIS CASE WOULD HAVE BEE THE "FULL PACK" RATE. BUT SHE NEVER REQUESTED THE "FULL PACK " RATE FOR HER MOVE. WE GAVE HER THE CERTIFICATES OF WEIGHT FOR HER MOVE AT THE DELIVERY & HAVE ALL THE DOCUMENTATION HERE IN OUR OFFICE. THIS IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF A UNPREPARED CUSTOMER WHO CONTINUES TO BLAME THE MOVING COMPANY FOR HER SHORTCOMINGS.
