We hired these people for an interstate move in April of 2012. They first provided a low-ball estimate $700 less than the other estimates we had. Two days before the move, they suddenly found that they'd underestimated the weight, and jacked the price up $1,000 - including the "binding estimate fee" which inexplicably went from $195 to $395. The total cost went from $2,300 to well over $3,000. Since they are a broker for interstate moves, they subcontracted the move to a tiny company out of South Florida. They had a two-day window to show up. At just before 4 pm on the second day of that window, the moving company informed me that their truck broke down, and they couldn't come. We told Neighbors Moving that we wanted our deposit refunded. They refused, and attempted to force us to sign a new contract with a new carrier at the last second, and even claimed that they had until midnight of that night to do the move! I will repeat this for anyone thinking of hiring these people: They attempted to use a deposit paid for an estimate provided on behalf of one mover (this is Federal law, by the way. The estimate they provide has to be for the mover they are hiring) to coerce us into signing a new contract with a new mover at the last second, and demanded that we let them pick up our things in the middle of the night. Finally, they've refused to refund the deposit, claiming that we "canceled" the move. Yup, their mover doesn't show up, and they have the nerve to claim that it was the customer who "canceled." It is pretty clear that their intent is to take a deposit and avoid refunding it at all costs. I will get the deposit back fromm these crooks, but anyone else dealing with these people should be warned about their conduct. They've been fined multiple times in the State of Washington for violating state moving regulations. It is time the FMCSA takes a serious look at this company. If you are thinking of using Neighbors Moving and Storage, *do not use them*. Do not believe their website, which is full of deceptive advertising (their "Mover of the Year" awards are paid for, they are not "family owned and operated" by any reasonable definition of the term, and few, if any, of their branches have been in business "since 1939."), and do not believe any estimate that they give you. Believe all of the other reviews on this site. They are real. This company is dishonest and unethical to its core..
