The moving company started out amazing. I was given a great price, and told it was a "binding not to exceed" contract. My move was set a 5005 pounds, my weight was 5260 pounds. So, based on my contract I was not to be charged if I went over...
Also, I live in townhomes, which I made CLEAR to the consultant HOWARD ZIMMERMAN.
The day the movers came they took an inventory that matched the inventory I gave them. Loaded our belongings, and were nice. However, the movers argued with eachother the whole time, and it was embarassing. (They were arguing about not wanting to work and wanting to go on vacation).
The movers who I believe work for RELO VAN LINES, LLC, allowed us to follow them to scales for our final weigh in. I went over weight by 255 pounds. The mover said I need to contact the company to find out how much I owe. I told them I had a binding contract and they said it was no good if I went over weight.
I TRIED contacting HOWARD ZIMMERMAN multiple times. He still has not returned my call (I emailed him 3 times). I called customer service and we are still waiting to speak to a supervisor, because apparently all 4 that they have are on "other calls".
Bottom Line: This company will sweet talk you into putting down your deposit, but after that they will not be around. They will over charge you. They will go AGAINST their own contracts. I have never dealt with such an awful company in my life. My family is military and we move all the time. Please DO NOT BE FOOLED.

Regarding your concern of the movers that rendered service, your assigned agent American Van Lines, is an agent of Colonial Van Lines who we requested to perform on our behalf due to the unavailability of one our personal trucks. In addressing your concerns with weight and the estimates our customers receive, they are quoted a binding 'not to exceed cost' price based on the furniture list that is provided by our customers to their moving coordinators upon booking and the total estimated weight generated. As stated on the documentation you received from your booking representative, your total charges are based on actual weight or cubic feet size of the property. Your account confirms you selected your items to be moved under the option of the actual weight of your shipment, therefore, you are liable for charges incurred for increased weight.
